I create and teach undergraduate and graduate journalism courses on digital reporting and design, investigative reporting, emerging technology and community engagement.
Currently, I am working with students to report on food insecurity for The New Haven Independent as part of an Online News Association Challenge Grant. We are building partnerships with local leaders and experimenting with audience engagement strategies. See our work on the Hamden Hunger Project website.
At the New York Times, I worked on data-driven stories and multimedia. I continue to freelance and have helped Times editors with industry research and recruiting for special projects, including a daily 360 video initiative. I recently published this piece about our 41st president.
